My Travel Art Journal Pages

Below I have curated the watercolor pages from my 3 month trip to Bhutan, Thailand, Italy, Greece, and Germany.

I am officially addicted to traveling. Enjoy the pages!

These first pages depict my time in Bhutan. The landscape is decorated with these traditional style buildings. Everywhere colorful architecture is intwined with overgrown vegetation and the mountainous landscape.

A collection of food I ate, plants I saw, and the corner of a building mosaic.

In Bhutan, Dogs are EVERYWHERE.

First day of Thailand!

Top and bottom paintings are both while waiting at 3AM for our 6AM ride to get the the ferry. It was dark, I was tired but coudnt’t sleep so I painted this Thai midnight train station

Florence italy!

The Duomo in Florence

Very fresh peaches we ate for breakfast in Napes Italy

Drawing inspiration from ceiling painting motifs

fantastic roof-top garden bar that also held a room with a piano for the public to play.

My friend Julia and I spend a week “woofing” on an Italian Farm in Tuscany. We worked on the farm in exchange for housing and food. We lucked out with our stay because the farmer Marco, wanted us to work only 2 hours a day picking fruit or weeding. The rest of the day we got off to paint and enjoy the beautiful Tuscan landscape. Macro’s best friend, Eddie was staying during the same week. We really lucked out when Eddie revealed he was a professional chef from the UK and whipped up the most fantastic dishes for us. He made every one of our meals, some of my favorite foods we ate were depicted in the sketch above. These included- tomato soup, fresh bread, ginger water, feta cheese, plums and the worlds best tiramisu,

“Theres no rushing in heaven” A quote from Chef Eddie

Athens Greece! That first full day of being in Greece I woke up early and found my way to the Acropolis. My sitting spot to do this painting turned out to be right next to the massive tourist path. I felt like I was being observed as much as the ancient ruins making this sketch.

More in Athens

On the left, my little hostel in Athens. On the right, looking off the balcony from my room on the Anti-Paros Island

On the left, the blooming flowers that were everywhere in Greece, and then right is a little flavor of the ocean and island view

Boats overlooking Naxos island- My friends and I took a sailboat day tour. George, our sailer, who was probably around 70 and a real character, steered us around the Mediterranean, telling us about the islands and his favorite whisky

Looking out at the front porch from our Hotel in Paros. Ashton and I stubbled across this hotel and decided to try it out. It ended up being the best decision. We became close with the hotel owner Elena, and she invited us to drink wine with her and her friends multiple nights. We also got free homemade gelato and omelets for breakfast! When we left she gave us both big hugs and we all had a few tears in our eyes, “You will be back I know it”.

Just a very long Ferry ride back to the main land in Athens.

Sitting on the rooftop back in Athens for the night before my morning flight into Germany

Berlin Germany! Left is from my seat at this breakfast cafe where I had a shakshuka and ginger tea. Right artwork is a contour line study from a painting I found in a little German gallery. I am disappointed I did not write down the artist name.

I visited my close friend Chloe, who is currently living in Stendal, Germany for a year. She is in the striped shirt.

Train ride to Magdeburg, Germany.

German architecture in Magdeburg.

Park in Stendal, thinking about my travels and how soon I will be heading home.

Plane ride back to Boston.
